busy busy

We have had some busy weeks! This past weekend we had my cousin's wedding and the weekend before that we went to New York City! It makes me tired all over again just typing about it. :) Seriously, both were GREAT!!

New York City was amazing! We flew up on Karl's flight and we all loved that. We stayed right off of Times Square and filled our Saturday with fun ...and lots of walking! We went to the 4 story Toys R Us (twice), the M&M store, Rockerfella Center, American Girl Store, Central Park, the Subway, Hard Rock Cafe and more. The kids loved it ... so did we!!

I have more to write - but I have to go get Jack from school! :)
Pictures to come soon!

family fun

I thought I would post a fun video Karl took on Monday. We had a nice family day together that included a favorite park/playground....

Unrelated....
We still don't know if we are going to New York City today...but we're ready if the flights have enough seats! I am NOT a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of girl, so this is just nearly sending me into hysteria! :)

Hoping to get to NYC

This week has been a blur somehow and two things have occupied my brain: 1) getting a dress for my cousin's wedding and 2) this New York weekend. After 2 mornings of looking, I finally found a dress today. Whew. Next week I'll tackle shoes -- surely that will be easier, right?!

So, New York. We are HOPING to get on Karl's flight tomorrow. Right now it is waaaay booked, but we are really counting on people taking earlier flights. I guess if it's meant to be -- it will. Anyway, if we get there (me and kiddos) then the four of us are going to be tourists in NYC!! We are going to the American Girl Doll Store and Karl wants to go to "The Top of the Rock" - at Rockefeller Center. Not sure what else. I don't want to plan tooooo much in case it doesn't pan out. We would be staying at a hotel on Times Square, which seems pretty cool! :)

The following weekend is my cousin Lynn (yes we have the same name)'s wedding in St. Louis. My kids are flower girl & ring bearer (along with 3 other cousins) and I'm reading. It will be a busy & fun weekend.

The kids are good -- Jack is becoming a pro at his "sight words" and Allison comes home from preschool with new songs each time. Tonight they were busting some moves to Phinneus and Ferb. They crack me up!

what we've been up to

It's been almost an entire week since I've blogged! Yikes! Well, that book series has taken over my life. I am FINISHED though. I finished the 4th book yesterday. I don't know WHAT it is about the Twilight series, but it was mesmerizing and addicting and I think I'm left with a little post-Twilight depression!! If you've read it ... you probably feel the same way.

I have also had several awesome bow orders this week. Yeah! That's such a happy hobby. I need to get to making Allison's halloween bows and also a few others that she needs! On Tuesday she wore last year's Halloween bows {gasp} and informed me there were too small!! So, I'll be making her some BAB (big ass bows) this weekend. She is hilarious.

Jack had a good week in school - but he is TIRED when he gets home and a little on the grumpolump side!! Let's hope that goes away!! Karl got to have lunch with him at school this week and that was fun for both of them!!!

Tonight was Allison's soccer practice and tomorrow is Jack's and then Saturday is GAME DAY. Unfortunately I'm be single parenting it..... Karl's at work. Joy. Joy.

Ok, I'm tired as can be...so up to bed I go! :)

I just can't stop reading...

I have read 3 of the 4 books in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer this week. I am a little OCD on the reading thing!! I would have book 4 read, except I ordered it on amazon.com and now I have to wait for it. WHAT was I thinking?? I can't wait for the mailman to show up on Monday...or {dread} Tuesday. It has helped me continue on with my real life and actually get some things done. ha ha

The kids have been busy with soccer since Thursday ...2 practices and 2 games. Allison played her first game today...and so did I. {rolling my eyes} She wouldn't stay on the field unless I was on it too. I was *thrilled*. Jack had fun at his game too - he did a turn at goalie and was good.

A little post Ike humor (thanks Sandy)

You know you're from the Gulf Coast when....
You have FEMA's number on your speed dialer.
You have more than 300 'C' and 'D' batteries in your kitchen drawer.
Your pantry contains more than 20 cans of Spaghetti Os.
You are thinking of repainting your house to match the plywood covering your windows.
When describing your house to a prospective buyer, you say it has three bedrooms, two baths and one safe hallway.
Your SSN isn't a secret, it's written in Sharpie on your arms.
You are on a first-name basis with the cashier at Home Depot.
You are delighted to pay $3 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
The road leading to your house has been declared a No-Wake Zone.
You decide that your patio furniture looks better on the bottom of the pool.
You own more than three large coolers.
You can wish that other people get hit by a hurricane and not feel the least bit guilty about it.
You rationalize helping a friend board up by thinking "It'll only take a gallon of gas to get there and back"
You have 2-liter coke bottles and milk jugs filled with water in your freezer
Three months ago you couldn't hang a shower curtain; today you can assemble a portable generator by candlelight.
You catch a 13-pound redfish - in your driveway.
You can recite from memory whole portions of your homeowner's insurance policy.
You consider a "vacation" to stunning Tupelo, Mississippi.
At cocktail parties, women are attracted to the guy with the biggest chainsaw.
You have had tuna fish more than 5 days in a row.
There is a roll of tar paper in your garage.
You can rattle off the names of three or more meteorologists who work at the Weather Channel.
Someone comes to your door to tell you they found your roof.
Ice is a valid topic of conversation.
Your "drive-thru" meal consists of MRE's and bottled water.
Relocating to South Dakota does not seem like such a crazy idea.
You spend more time on your roof then in your living room.
You've been laughed at over the phone by a roofer, fence builder or a tree worker.
A battery powered TV is considered a home entertainment center.
You don't worry about relatives wanting to visit during the summer.
Your child's first words are "hunker down" and you didn't go to Ole Miss!
Having a tree in your living room does not necessarily mean it's Christmas.
Toilet Paper is elevated to coin of the realm at the shelters.
You know the difference between the"good side" of a storm and the "bad side."
Your kids start school in August and finish in July.
You go to work early and stay late just to enjoy the air conditioning
