we're ready for Christmas

We actually had our little family Christmas ... due to Karl's schedule and traveling....
The kids visited with Santa after Allison's preschool Christmas program.

We are all ready for Christmas! We'll be visiting family and embarking on the Christmas vacation ... in the van! Here are some Christmasy pictures!

Ice Skating!

Jack and I went to his buddy Jackson's birthday party yesterday. It was at the ice rink that they put up here every winter. We both had a great time and Jack did really well. He used a metal walker type thing on the ice to help with his balance. He didn't fall at all! :) I ice skated too (without a walker) and had a blast.

snow!

It snowed in Houston! For real (as Jack would say). :)
It snowed for a few hours! Jack and Allison did get outside in it - but no pictures -sorry.
This morning my sliding van doors were frozen shut!!!! That made getting to school interesting.

Happy December

We are in the full swing of December! The kids are enjoying the lights, decorations and general happy buzz in the air. Allison is getting ready for her Christmas show at preschool - all the mommies and daddies will show with their video cameras! Jack will have his first non-Christian "winter party" at school. Not sure how I feel about that, but alas we are remembering Jesus' birthday here. :)

Karl had his first "drill weekend" for the Texas National Guard on Saturday & Sunday. Nothing too exciting to report from there. He will have training in February. Could be a LONG spring for me......

I've gotten the Christmas cards out, bought all the presents (with the exception of a few) and now I'm antsy to wrap. I'm hoping tonight...but we'll see what the day throws at me.

Yesterday Allison didn't get a nap and then went to bed at normal time. Well she slept until 8:50am today (usually up at 7:00) and now isn't taking a nap. She is laying on the couch, but I think I've started a viscious cycle. I NEED that nap time to get mommy things done around here.

I think that's all the excitement from here......

Friday!!

Today is my first day without house guests since LAST Wednesday! Whew. We had great visits with everyone! :)

Now we are in CHRISTMAS mode! Woo hoo. The house is all decorated and some of the presents are wrapped. I just need to tie up loose ends ...and then I'll be finished with the shopping.

Karl is on reserve now with Continental - so he's been home a lot. Tomorrow he starts the TX Air National Guard ... 2 days a month. He'll go to UAV training in the spring for that....

My bow business is doing great and I am soooooooo thankful for all my awesome bow customers/friends!! Yeah!

I am hanging with Allison today while Jack is at school. He's 5 1/2 today!! Where has the time gone?

Have a great weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's been a while since I've posted anything...that seems to be a trend!

We had a nice Thanksgiving here at home and Mom, Dottie and Ying came to celebrate with us! I am full of yummy food and I think ready for bed!! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Tomorrow...I get to decorate for Christmas!! Woo hoo!

It's a Monday

Jack the pirate & Allison the princess at Lexi's birthday party at the Children's Museum.

We had a weekend full of birthday parties! We celebrated a 2nd and 4th birthday ... lots of pizza and cake. The kids had a great time at both parties! :)

I have spent lot of time making bows over the past several days. I have one more set to make...but I'm taking a bow hiatus today. :) I'm actually working on a Christmas present project today. There can only be so much "craft" time in one day.......

I went to the eye doctor today (what a thrill) ... but nothing exciting to report. My eyes haven't changed since my last visit. Then Karl, Allison and I went to Toys R Us and he and I covertly bought presents without Allison seeing. :)

Karl just headed off on a bike ride with Jack. Now I'm going to go play with my Allison!

Monday, November 10, 2008

It feels like it's been a looooong day. I think it's because our "nighttime routine" sucks the life out of me. The kids are hugged, kissed and tucked into bed and I'm ready to CHILL OUT.

I was trying to think of something "good" to blog about ... but there hasn't been much going on! Karl is on reserve for the month, but has only been called in for one trip so far. He's already stir crazy! He actually just left (8:07pm) to get his flu shot from the Randall's Pharmacy (they are open till 9:00 - who knew). That's one really bored dude.

I took the kids to the dentist today and that went well. She said they have beautiful teeth and no cavaties! That's awesome!!

Karl and I got a new trashcan today -that was our excitement. :) Actually we bought a stainless steel one that we've wanted since we moved here. So, to us, it was exciting. :)

He and I are totally hooked on the show "True Blood" on HBO. So much so, that we are switching cable companies ... but aren't until the season is over!!! It's gooooooooood. I never knew I liked vampires, but after reading the Twilight series and now watching this - I do!!

I'm going to breakfast tomorrow with some friends - I'm looking forward to it! I crack myself up thinking about it though- because I'm going with the soccer moms. That's just funny to me.....

My Grandma Lynn is hanging in there, but probably not for much longer. :( My uncle is coming from Australia to see her and arrives tomorrow night. I think she is holding on to see him.

I've had Christmas on the brain for the past few days. I managed to get my Christmas cards ordered over the weekend. YEAH. I've made them for the past few years, but that just didn't make it in the schedule this year. I'm working on some other Christmas projects and have 1/2 of my shopping done........

Ok, now I'm going to veg on the couch and watch "Samantha Who". :)

We flew on Karl's flight to NYC. It was great for the whole family.

We had the best time in New York City! It was such a great experience for the kids too! It ended a little on the stressful side (we got stuck at LaGuardia airport for 6 1/2 hours) but the overall memory is GREAT! :)

catching up - can it really be November?

It's been a whirlwind for the past few weeks! I just wanted to catch up my blog (is that the correct sequence of words?)!

Karl's mom was here for Halloween and soccer. The kids scored some serious candy on Halloween. We took them to the shopping center near our house (grocery store, Starbucks, etc) and they were giving out some quality candy!!! :) It was fun to see everyone out and all the different costumes. There were some GREAT ones! We ate dinner at the mexican restaurant there and then headed back to our neighborhood to trick or treat! Jack was the red power ranger and Allison was Cinderella. They looked great!

We finished our soccer season on Saturday (whew!) with 2 games and 2 trophy parties. Allison basically got a trophy for wearing the uniform. She spent the last game skipping up and down the field. Jack is really into soccer and has gotten better and better with each season. :)

I have a million awesome pictures from October and some fun video clips too! I want to get some of those posted.....stay tuned!

This week is catch up time ... laundry, house, bows and then the Christmas shopping!!

My mom and Dottie (SIL) are coming for turkey day, so I bought some Thanksgiving-y decorations today. I REALLY like to decorate......

Karl is on reserve this month for work. Not my favorite... you know I like a plan. There is no planning with reserve.......they called him into work this morning ...phone call at 6:00am. Nice.

Alright, must accomplish much more before Allison wakes up .......

busy busy

We have had some busy weeks! This past weekend we had my cousin's wedding and the weekend before that we went to New York City! It makes me tired all over again just typing about it. :) Seriously, both were GREAT!!

New York City was amazing! We flew up on Karl's flight and we all loved that. We stayed right off of Times Square and filled our Saturday with fun ...and lots of walking! We went to the 4 story Toys R Us (twice), the M&M store, Rockerfella Center, American Girl Store, Central Park, the Subway, Hard Rock Cafe and more. The kids loved it ... so did we!!

I have more to write - but I have to go get Jack from school! :)
Pictures to come soon!

family fun

I thought I would post a fun video Karl took on Monday. We had a nice family day together that included a favorite park/playground....

Unrelated....
We still don't know if we are going to New York City today...but we're ready if the flights have enough seats! I am NOT a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of girl, so this is just nearly sending me into hysteria! :)

Hoping to get to NYC

This week has been a blur somehow and two things have occupied my brain: 1) getting a dress for my cousin's wedding and 2) this New York weekend. After 2 mornings of looking, I finally found a dress today. Whew. Next week I'll tackle shoes -- surely that will be easier, right?!

So, New York. We are HOPING to get on Karl's flight tomorrow. Right now it is waaaay booked, but we are really counting on people taking earlier flights. I guess if it's meant to be -- it will. Anyway, if we get there (me and kiddos) then the four of us are going to be tourists in NYC!! We are going to the American Girl Doll Store and Karl wants to go to "The Top of the Rock" - at Rockefeller Center. Not sure what else. I don't want to plan tooooo much in case it doesn't pan out. We would be staying at a hotel on Times Square, which seems pretty cool! :)

The following weekend is my cousin Lynn (yes we have the same name)'s wedding in St. Louis. My kids are flower girl & ring bearer (along with 3 other cousins) and I'm reading. It will be a busy & fun weekend.

The kids are good -- Jack is becoming a pro at his "sight words" and Allison comes home from preschool with new songs each time. Tonight they were busting some moves to Phinneus and Ferb. They crack me up!

what we've been up to

It's been almost an entire week since I've blogged! Yikes! Well, that book series has taken over my life. I am FINISHED though. I finished the 4th book yesterday. I don't know WHAT it is about the Twilight series, but it was mesmerizing and addicting and I think I'm left with a little post-Twilight depression!! If you've read it ... you probably feel the same way.

I have also had several awesome bow orders this week. Yeah! That's such a happy hobby. I need to get to making Allison's halloween bows and also a few others that she needs! On Tuesday she wore last year's Halloween bows {gasp} and informed me there were too small!! So, I'll be making her some BAB (big ass bows) this weekend. She is hilarious.

Jack had a good week in school - but he is TIRED when he gets home and a little on the grumpolump side!! Let's hope that goes away!! Karl got to have lunch with him at school this week and that was fun for both of them!!!

Tonight was Allison's soccer practice and tomorrow is Jack's and then Saturday is GAME DAY. Unfortunately I'm be single parenting it..... Karl's at work. Joy. Joy.

Ok, I'm tired as can be...so up to bed I go! :)

I just can't stop reading...

I have read 3 of the 4 books in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer this week. I am a little OCD on the reading thing!! I would have book 4 read, except I ordered it on amazon.com and now I have to wait for it. WHAT was I thinking?? I can't wait for the mailman to show up on Monday...or {dread} Tuesday. It has helped me continue on with my real life and actually get some things done. ha ha

The kids have been busy with soccer since Thursday ...2 practices and 2 games. Allison played her first game today...and so did I. {rolling my eyes} She wouldn't stay on the field unless I was on it too. I was *thrilled*. Jack had fun at his game too - he did a turn at goalie and was good.

getting back to normal

Things are getting back to normal around here. It's all back to normal in our house, complete with chaos and one crazy mama. Karl was able to finish the debris clean up and we are back to having a bunch of lawn bags on our front lawn (I paid some guy to haul away the first batch). I'm glad it's cleaned up. We were sooooooooo very lucky. Our poor neighbors STILL have that tree in their house.

Today was a somber day for me ... it's the 2 year anniversary of my dad passing away. I still can't believe he's gone. We had a complicated relationship, but I loved him unconditionally. I miss him so much. I still think, oh I need to call dad and tell him _________ (fill in the blank). And watching Jack grow - he LOVED LOVED LOVED Jack (he loved Allison too, but only saw her a few times) - I hate that he has missed these past 2 years and all that will come. Ok, that's all I can say about that. I miss my dad.

in addition...today was a very *long* day in the life of this mommy. Allison was incredibly challenging today and boy did I say some prayers for strength ... and patience and whatever else I needed to not completely loose it. DId I mention, Karl's at work?! Put it this way, it's 7:40 and the kids have been in their beds for 15 minutes already. I am D O N E for today. Let's hope for a better day tomorrow. Oh ya, Allison ate MORE gum today too...that was the icing on the cake.

Earlier today I enjoyed church service and the kids learned more about Noah in their Sunday school. Jack..."we learned about a guy who built a boat" ...ummm Noah ... "Ya that's him, how did you know?" I know everything. Now mind you, I've read them that story about 20 times. {rolling eyes} We enjoyed some lunch at McCallisters with Stacie & her kiddos. :)

I need to get a shower, make some bows, clean up the living room, write some thank you notes and I'm sure there is more. I'd rather crawl in bed and watch a tivo'd Jon & Kate + 8 though....

I just realized (thanks to my People magazine) that Dancing with the Stars and Lipstick Jungle premiere this week. WOO HOO There is a bright spot in a gloomy day....

I just need to be thankful for what I have and for my 2 children, regardless of the very challenging days.............

the view from here

This is the street that intersects ours...this photo doesn't do it justice. A few trees had fallen across the street, but they were already removed.
This is our neighbor's house.... notice the tree truck protruding from the roof.

And this is our house - we were soooooooo lucky.

I took a few pictures of our street and the street that intersects ours....

my update!

Just wanted to report that we are ok and so is our house. We are back at our house (since Sunday). We were sooooo very lucky. Our neighbors didn't do so well - one has a tree IN their house. I took pictures, will post later.

We regained power at about 3:00pm today. Thank God. Seriously. Thank God.

It really hasn't been that bad - it's been very pleasant outside and my neighbors are awesome. Karl had to go to work yesterday morning, so it's the kids and me. We have just played outside alot.

Poor Allison has a stomach bug, but it doing ok.

Anyway - just some quick info!

we're ok

Just a quick update to let everyone know we are safe and sound. We evacuated to San Antonio to some friends house. From reports from our neighbors, our house is ok. There is no electricity though. Some - I'm writing this from San Antonio....

We are going to try to go home tomorrow. We'll see, I think the roads are floaded in spots.
We plan to make wise decisions. :) No stupidity here!!!!

Please keep Galveston & Houston people in your prayers! We have some neighbors with a tree IN their house. We were soooooooooo lucky - we have 100 feet tall Pines in our back yard - which is why we evacuated.

gum

So yesterday we had a little excitement with Allison. Yesterday afternoon I was working on the computer and Jack was watching some TV and Allison was playing nicely in their little toy corner in the living room. I decided that probably wasn't the case and went to check on her - to catch her in my purse with a pack of gum. So I check it out and it's more than 1/2 empty. I had just opened it yesterday morning and knew only 2 pieces should be missing. I headed over to her little corner to find gum wrappers ... EIGHT of them. I asked her where she put the gum and she said "in my tummy". Then it dawned on me that I had found another stash of papers a few days ago but chalked it up to Jack not cleaning up his gum wrapper trash. So I realized she had eaten between 8 and 16 pieces of gum in the past few days. I called the pediatrician's office and long story short ... she'll poop it out. Nice.

Today Jack headed back to school ... not too exciting of a day. :)

Saturday

Sinus infections are running rampant in our household this week. Hopefully they are on their way out!!! :)

Allison started preschool on Thursday and loved it. She had a great day! She walked right in and didn't even say goodbye!! She was happy and that was good!!

Jack had a good week at kindergarten and got through it with the sinus infection. Poor guy. We made a trip to the pediatrician on Thursday and now he's on the mend.

We spent the day catching up on things.

Well...must stop typing...Jack got juice all over the keyboard and must clean....

my Tuesday

Allison & her preschool teachers
Jack climbing at the YMCA

The day isn't even 1/2 over, but I thought I would post some pictures. Last week we took Jack "rock climbing" at the YMCA. He had been WAITING to do it ... you have to be 5 and he did great! Allison also wanted to ... but she's only 3. I posted Allison with her teachers too. :)

Jack got up in a good mood and got ready for week 2 of kindergarten! I hope he is having a good day. I miss him. It makes me a little sad that he is spending 7 hours a day with someone else!

Allison and I had a good morning. We went to our beloved Target. :) After purchasing a bunch of stuff we didn't need we head over to drop off clothing for the big consignment sale at the Methodist Church. I hope to make some decent $$ there, but we shall see! Then we treated ourselves to a little Bread Company (Panera). Yum yum.

Now, I must stop avoiding the kitchen and go unload/load the dishwasher. Why do I hate doing that so much?!

Oh and no Gustav weather remnants to report from here. We might get some rain later, but we'll see!

Monday, September 1, 2008

challenging....

This has been one of those days. Wow. I just put the kids to bed. Whew. It has been very challenging with the 2 kiddos this afternoon/evening. Jack isn't bad - he just doesn't listen. Allison - well she doesn't listen, etc. I'm glad they are in bed and we can start a new day tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, Jack heads back to school tomorrow. He's happy about kindergarten. :) I'm so glad. We worked on his first "homework" today. We decorated a little cut out person like him. We both enjoyed it.

I hope Allison and I have a better day tomorrow. She is the most strong-willed child. Holy cow.

I am hoping that Gustav doesn't give us too much trouble. I hope all the people along the coast are doing ok. I'm so glad most evacuated.

Friday, August 29, 2008

It was a full week!

We made it through the first week of kindergarten and I think Jack is enjoying it. We have had lots to do after school too - so it's been hectic!

Allison visited her preschool classroom on Tuesday and enjoyed checking it out. Her teachers, Ms. Flo and Ms. Evangelina seem very nice.

Tonight I have finally uploaded pictures of my newest bows ... if you're interested ... check it out! :)
http://bowsbylynn.tripod.com/id1.html

Tomorrow I have to take Maggie to the vet - she's having some rear issues......... yuck.
Tomorrow afternoon is Jack's first official playdate with a kindergarten friend! We'll see how it goes.

Now, I have to go let Goose, the neighbor dog, out. I do that alot. But, the lady brings us "thank yous" from all around the world (she's an international fight attendant) ... so that's fun. I was looking forward to sleeping in and then I remembered that Goose doesn't sleep in.........

Wednesday, August 27, 2008

my days are long!

Well, I had grown accustomed to sleeping until 7:30 and sometimes even 8:00! Now, the brutal alarm wakes me from my beloved sleep. Ahh, the life of a kindergartener's mom........

Jack is doing great and loves it. Allison is loving the one on one time. It's all good.
Except that I am tired as ... well you know.

Tomorrow is our first MOPS leadership meeting of the year. Ready to get that going!

Oh and Jack has his first playdate scheduled!! Oh the fun! :)

Now, it's time for ice cream.......

Monday, August 25, 2008

it's been a good birthday

I thought I would add a little update...

Jack did GREAT at kindergarten and reported to us that the playground is "awesome". He was tired after school and wasn't ready to share the details at first. Over a few hours time we were able to get out of him that he will be assigned a square on the carpet tomorrow, gets a party {"any kind we want - even ice cream"} at the end of the year if he fills up a marble jar (I didn't really get all the details on that), had gym class today "but didn't do ANYTHING and it was boring" and computer and "didn't get to do ANYTHING there either". (I believe they were filling the kids in on what exactly they WOULD be doing. He plans to go back tomorrow.

I had a nice birthday! We had cake and several home made cards from the neighbor kids. Karl and the kids gave me a new purse and a camera! Yeah! For dinner they took me to Red Lobster for some crab legs!! It was a good 34th....

Now, it's time for bed so I can get up and do it all over again!
Oh and tomorrow we go to Allison's school. She's excited. :)

My baby started Kindergarten!!

Jack getting ready to walk to school.
Jack & Mrs. Bush

Unbelievably my little boy started kindergarten today. Where have the last 5 years gone?! He ws very excited and was ready on time! We walk to school ... it's not too far and I cannot imagine putting him on the bus!! Anyway, we walked with some neighbors and a Great Dane from a few streets over accompanied us!!! Jack's teacher, Mrs. Bush, was at the classroom door to greet him. He found a place for his backpack and then found his soccer friend Quinn. I just wanted to watch and take it all in, but Karl said we had to leave. {sniff sniff}

Today is also my birthday ... I'm 34 today. Not too exciting.....

Allison seems ok to be here without Jack ... but I bet she gets bored. We shall see!

And for the grossest story in the history of the world....
So last night we were playing outside and I was over at a neighbors letting their dog out. Well, apparently Allison had to poop but waited too long. So, she pooped in her pants. Karl got her into the bathroom to finish her business and to take her undies out to rinse out. That's when I came back from letting Goose out. So I go in and check on Allison (she was on the toilet) and notice the big pile of poop on the FLOOR. So then I went outside to heckle Karl about it. Then I went back inside to clean it up ... but it was GONE. I asked Allison "what happened to the poo poo" and she said " Maggie ate it". I was BEYOND grossed out but dying laughing and went outside to tell Karl that HIS dog ate poop. Isn't that the most disgusting thing ever?!?!?!

Karl is getting me Quiznos for lunch (yum) and then I'm going for a little retail therapy after we eat. Woo hoo.

Monday, August 18, 2008

It's a Monday, but that's ok.

We didn't leave the house today, but it was a good day. The kids played with Jack's pirate ship & million accessories for hours today. I had the bug man come spray the house, so before that I was crazy picking-crap-off-the-floor woman! Turns out we may have a little "friend" living in our attic. LOVELY.

After a conversation with a friend this weekend, I remembered the Chuck Norris facts website. Now, I really get a kick out of this because my mom LOVES Chuck Norris and I grew up with her watching Texas Walker Ranger and anything else she could find. :) If you've never read any of them ... some are really good! http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/

I listed some of Allison's clothes on ebay today - why is that so hard for me?? The girl has a TON of clothes, but it's hard to part with them! BUT, must make room for clothes that fit...right?! I have a coupon for Gymboree that starts on Thursday...so we'll pick up a few more fall pieces.

I really enjoyed my MOPS retreat this weekend. It was good to get to know (better) the other moms that are on the leadership team. We really enjoyed sharing stories about our family, life and faith. Oh and a few glasses of wine.... We were staying in a log cabin at a place called Camp Allen and I slept in a bunk bed {Jack was so dissappointed that I didn't sleep in the TOP bunk}. It was pretty much in the middle of no where - so we drove to the Texas A&M campus for dinner. There were a few Aggie women there and they were proud to show off their campus -- although it was dark and we didn't actually SEE a lot. I'm on the hospitality committee - I share responsibility with 2 other ladies. It's a good fit. :)

Tomorrow promises to be a busy day ... well child check ups, preschool teacher home visit, babysitting some favorite friends and then dinner with said friends! Then Karl will be home ... yeah! Allison's teacher's name is Miss Flo ... does anyone else find that funny?

I have the Olympics on in the background - is anyone else having Michael Phelps withdrawl?!

I told myself I'd go to bed at a decent time tonight ... must. stick. to. that.

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

I need a nap!

Like a lot of people, I stayed up waaaay too late last night watching the Olympics and now I am TIRED. Then, just as I was going to sleep, Allison decided that there was a bug in her bed (not I'm 99% sure there WASN'T) but we spent the next 20 minutes looking for it and then we both went back to bed and then just as I was falling asleep again she wanted me to come check one more time. So, finally at 1:00am I went to sleep ... I'm NOT a 1:00am kinda girl! I need a nap!

We are meeting Stacie & her kids at the pool this morning. Hopefully my kids will agree to stay in the same area ... but probably not. Getting ready to go to the pool is always such a pain ... I think it has something to do with having to get 3 of us ready, pack lunch or snacks, etc. Oh well. Once we're there it's ok.

Allison starts gymnastics next Wednesday and after watching the girls at the Olympics, she's excited. I think she is going to do the uneven bars next week. ha ha. I tried her little gymnastics leotard on last night and then she didn't want to take it off. It was funny to watch her do her version of gymnastics!

Jack starts kindergarden in less than 2 weeks. I cannot believe it. I'm excited for him and also sad that he'll be gone all day! I know he'll do well, but I just want to keep him under my wing! What if the "older" kids teach him awful things?!? We'll be walking to school, so hopefully that will keep him from mingling with the 4th graders (gasp!).

I guess I should get ready for the pool!

It's been a while since I've really posted!

I feel like I need to catch up or update or something!! We've been home from our trip since Friday, but it seems like every minute has been filled with something to do!

We had a great trip home - full of Grandma visiting, eating, friend visiting, shopping, eating, picture taking, eating and flower girl & "wedding bear" (aka ring bearer) clothes shopping. Jack & Allison got lots of playtime with cousin Hannah and they all seemed to have a blast. Karl actually got to join us for a couple days. We had to leave to soon, but that's always the case.

We had to catch an early flight on Friday (8:40am) which translates into getting up EARLY. The kids were good sports about it and everything went smoothly. I almost have it down to a science. Jack is good 98% of the time and Allison ... well she tries.... Our flight was delayed about 20 minutes, but luckily there is a Starbucks across from the gate and the apple danishes made everyone happy!

We picked Maggie up from the new kennel and she was happy to see us! It cost a fortune to board her there, but it was the right place to put her. She got to run and play and dig and bark. Those are her favorite things! :)

I have my Mother of Preschoolers retreat this weekend. I am working on it with 2 other moms and it's taking up a lot of my "free" time. But, I love organizing ... so it's right up my alley. Karl will have the kids to himself for TWO nights!!! I'll have to let you know how that goes!!!!!!!

We had Stacie and her kids tonight - it's always fun to get together with them! We tried out a new place (well it's not new ... we just haven't been there). It's Italian ... it was ok. It's no Rich & Charlies.........

Jack is gearing up for kindergarten - I still can't believe he's old enough for ALL DAY school. He has all his school supplies and his new backpack. We are going shoe shopping later in the week. Allison will go back to her preschool in September--her little friends from last year should be in class with her again this year. They'll both do soccer through the YMCA and Karl and I are excited about that. :)

Well, I'm going to go eat a brownie and chill out.

we're home!

We're back from our St. Louis trip! It was fun to be home and see lots of family and friends. :) I need to unpack and get back into the routine...

home sweet home

The kids and I are heading home tomorrow to see everyone ... I doubt I'll post while there. Have a great week! :)

Catching up

It's been a few days since I posted anything! The week has been busy with swimming lessons, ballet and of course everyday life! :)

Allison finished up her ballet today - turns out ballet isn't really here "thing". On Monday she spent most of the class under the chair she was supposed to be standing next to and today didn't go much better. She did look REALLY cute in here little leotard, tights and skirt though. :)

Tomorrow is the last day for swimming lessons for both kiddos. Jack has had pretty much private lessons and is doing great - jumping in the 10 ft water and getting to the edge (my whole goal). Allison is participating more this week ... I think this one has to do with the instructor's "technique" last week for the lack of participation ... she really does love pools/water/swimming.

I'm working on getting us ready for our St. Louis trip. I am looking forward to getting home. Yes, after 7 years of not living there, I still consider STL my home. Now to get all the logistics of seeing everyone.

We'll be seeing my Grandparents. They are 92 now and doing ok, but not great We always see them when we get home. My kids love them (me too). :) Grandpa's memory is gone, but he is still fun!! Grandma is frail, but still spirited.

We'll be staying at my mom's ... in my old room ... me and my kids. ha ha. (Karl won't be with us for the first 1/2). It always makes me laugh just thinking about it....

Today we went to our church's splash day and then to Chik-Fil-A with some friends. We put our collective 6 kids at one table and we mamas at another and actually got to talk!! It was fun.

It's been a busy day and I'm feeling tired! Surely this Epstein Barr Virus is on it's way out, RIGHT?! I still am not myself, but certainly ready to be! Hopefully I'll get a good night of sleep and be feeling better tomorrow!! Oh - I have a hair appointment tomorrow- yeah. Two or three hours to just chill....ahhh.

J & A are upstairs playing dress up. Jack must have like 57 layers on right now. He's spiderman and Allison is Sleepy Booty (yes that is how she says it).

I need to decorate some tote bags for my MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) leadership retreat, so once the kids go to bed I need to get my creative juices flowing. It will involve a bow I'm sure. I'm excited to have a bigger role in MOPS this year, I'm on the hospitality committee. One other lady and myself are planning/organizing our retreat in August. My MOPS group is actually at our church and between the two I've been able to make some great friends.

If you read this, you know I love Gymboree (kids store) ... they started a big sale today, I have a 25% off coupon and STL will have tax free this weekend. WOO HOOO.

I don't think I have anything else exciting to write about... just a normal week. Oh - I signed both kids up for soccer at the YMCA for the fall. That should be fun/funny!! :)

Our Saturday

Another day, another birthday party! This time it was a 3 year old party. Anyway, they had fun and anytime there is cake involved - they are happy. It did lead to getting home past bedtime ... then still having to get a bath, etc. Oh well, maybe they'll sleep in tomorrow! (Not likely).

I had been feeling almost 100% normal over the past few days, but today I was back to feeling like crap. I was so bummed ... just yesterday I was telling my mom that I was finally feeling like myself again. Oh well - hopefully tomorrow I'll feel better. I plan on doing NOTHING ... except the essentials! :)

I think Allison is fighting some type of little bug - her tummy hasn't been quite right - so hopefully that will go away soon. She woke up a bunch last night and then didn't have a good nap today. When she is just playing she seems fine though, it's slightly baffling!

This one is brief tonight - I'm sleepy and I'm going to bed!

I love Gymboree

Today was my big day with the Gymboree designer!!! As Allison would say, it was awesome! The group consisted of the lead designer for Gymboree/Janie & Jack/ Crazy 8, the district manager, the regional manager and then a corporate big wig from California (headquarters). I was with them the whole time and then 3 other moms were in & out during our conversation. I came armed with a ton of opinions. They really listed to what I had to say and that was so cool! I do ALOT of shopping there and it was just nice to tell them what I like & what I don't. :) One of the other moms that came was snooty and I was glad when she left. :)~ Makes me think *maybe* I might want to look into that area when I go back to work. But, who knows.... then for coming they gave me a great coupon ... which I'll combine and use during the back to school sale and get really good prices - YEAH.

While I was in Gymboree land, Karl took the kids to swimming lessons (Allison participated- woo hoo) and then the library!

I took the kids to their friend Drew's birthday party this evening at Pump It Up (inflatable jumper place). They had a blast, wore themselves out and went to bed without much of a fight!

My house looks like a tornado hit it, but I think I'm just going to leave it that way for tonight. I'm tired and I'm going to bed! :)

Wednesday, July 23, 2008

It's been another full day! Karl took the kids to swimming today ... Jack did great, Allison didn't participate. {rolling my eyes}

I actually stayed in my pajamas until lunchtime. Ahhhh. Unfortunately one of my bow customers came at 10:30 (while I was in my jammies) to get her bows. Oops....

So we had a little issue with Karl's work schedule which set us in a funk for a few hours, but it's all good now. He has to go to work tomorrow (unexpected and we weren't happy about it) but now he's going to get off for my birthday/Jack's first day of kindergarten. So, that's happy!!

Allison had ballet - her teacher is hilarious. I'm pretty sure she is close friends with a bottle of gin. She's in her 60s and is pretty darn funny. There are 3 teenagers/college kids that do the actual dancing.... Today Allison participated for most of it - woo hoo!!! She's sooooo cute when she's doing it! They played a video of some of the recital dances that the teachers were in and the little girls were mesmerized - heck so were the moms.

Today we have just been hanging out. The kids should be in bed - but for some reason they are in the backyard with Karl. Oh well, whatever....

Tomorrow is my big Gymboree meeting!!! Woo hooo!!! I've been compiling my notes today. :)~ I really am excited for this opportunity...who knows where it will lead me. I am in Gymboree A LOT - not because I'm always spending $$$ but because as part of my bow business, I need to match all the new line colors. I end up buying a small accessory (like socks or something) to start. Anyway, my bow orders then fund my Gymboree shopping. :) Oh and I only buy on sale, or with a coupon. I work at it so it is around the same cost as other stores. Anyway, because I am there alot - they know me. And because Allison always has gigantic bows in and because Jack is a sweet boy that sits nicely and watches their TV. :) I'll post how it goes......

Oh - apparently the kids want me to go outside. Guess we aren't making bedtime tonight. :)
Overall the day turned out ok ... bummer that Karl has to work tomorrow and Friday though. Oh and Saturday and Sunday......

Alright...outside I go!

It's been a full day!!!

It's been a busy day! Karl got home from his "red eye" flight from Equador at 7:00am...the kids woke up at 7:02am and somehow I had to keep them quiet so he could sleep. LUCKILY we had swimming lessons today and had to be out of the house at 9:00am. We did swimming, then went to the donut store (yum) and then to Target. We seriously wandered the aisles and visited the potty twice.... FINALLY Karl called about 12:15 to tell us he was up and we could come home! Thank the Lord!!!! $90 later and a cart full of randomness - we left!!

Karl and Jack were supposed to visit Jackson, MS today, but due to a lack of seats on the flights ... they didn't. Jack was seriously bummed, so Karl took him to Kung Fu Panda while Allison napped. You can imagine the scene when Allison woke up and found out what went down while she slept.........

Maggie had a playdate with the new puppy across the street ... all dogs & kids enjoyed that.

I talked to the manager of my Gymboree today and was invited to meet with the new corporate designer. Ok - anyone that knows me and my shopping habits knows that is HUGE. I love that store. If you are reading this and have no idea what I'm talking about - it's a children's clothing store and I make made to match bows ... well to match their clothes. My bows that I sell fund my shopping habit. ;) SOOOO on Thursday I get to go in and give my opinion!! I posted a question on Gymboree forum (yes such a thing does exist) and I'm up to 248 replies in like 9 hours!! I just asked for people's opinions that I could pass along. It cracks me up. :)

I also got a "rush" bow order ... Karl laughed. Hey - when you need a matching bow - you need a matching bow!! That particular Mama needed 4!! So ... that's what I did tonight. ;)

Karl's taking the kids to swimming lessons in the morning ... woo hoo!

Ok, I am now going to finally hang out with my husband!! :)

We need a little Allison video on here!!

Just what's been going on today

Today started off a little on the rough side - kids up to early, me not feeling so great, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera!! Then Karl calls and gives me his *lovely* schedule for August. Ok, as if you hadn't guessed, it's not lovely. It flat out stinks. So... that was a wet blanket on the morning!! I am going to attempt to remedy that situation tomorrow morning ... there is a 2 minute window each month where the pilot can *try* to drop (get rid of) a certain trip. Well, Karl is in Equador and can't really wait on hold for 25 minutes, kwim? Anyway, we'll see if I can be his proxy and drop those CRAPPY trips!! I know I should just be thankful he has a job ... but boy do I want him home when our baby boy starts kindergarten!!

The kids and went to church this morning. Jack happily goes (makes me so happy) but Allison isn't so thrilled. They have a series going on in their Sunday school that involves two characters dressed up with crazy Einstein hair. Well, Allison does NOT like them. I was solo, so after I did my preschool check in volunteering, I just decided to accompany Allison. I wanted her to know it was ok and have her not associate church with scary!! She had told me over the past two weeks that she didn't like the monsters...well this week it dawned on me what the "monsters" were. Anyway, I joined her for their Bible lesson and we danced and sang and made sure everything was ok. Ironically, the verse this week was about being brave. She was happy the whole time and hopefully this will carry through to next week because mama needs to learn some stuff too. :)

My neighbors watched the kids so I could attend a meeting for *the* consignment sale around here. I'm selling some stuff for my MOPS group, but also want to get rid of some of our toys. They are TAKING OVER THE HOUSE. Anyone that's been to my house, heck anyone that knows me ... knows this is soooooooo true.

I should be getting to bed, but when Karl's out of town, sleeping is sometimes a struggle. I'm least excited when he's in another country ... heck another continent. My routine is to lay in bed and watch my tivo'd Jon & Kate + 8 ... but I think I'm out of them!! Oh no! :)

I read a lady I knew back in Columbus' blog tonight. She lost her husband in a plane crash in the Spring. Reading her posts just makes you sooooooo appreciative of your family. I'll give my babies an extra pat tonight and wish I could give my hubby an extra hug. Do me a favor, go love on (that sounds like something that lady would say) your family!

Tomorrow we start swimming lessons (again). This will be Jack's 2nd set this summer and Allison's FIRST. I will let you know how that goes...... We also have ballet again...poor Jack will get dragged to that. :)

The other blogs I read are often so profound. Mine: not so much.

A low key day!

I can't believe it's Saturday - somewhere in the week I lost track of what day it was!!!

Yesterday we went to the Barnum & Bailey Circus!! The kids really enjoyed it -- heck the grown ups did too! Allisons says her favorite part was the elephants and Jack hasn't decided yet. We went with some of our neighbors and all the kids really enjoyed being there together. So, the most astounding part to us was that the cotton candy cost more than a ticket!!!! Seriously, we had the YMCA discount, so they were $8 each and the cotton candy was $10!!!!!!!!!! Something's not right about that ... you know it cost like $0.02 to make. I took some video, but I seemed to have lost my uploading skills...so we'll see if I can post it! They really did put on a great show though! The "star", Bello, was this crazy-talented clown that had so many different skills!! It was fun - I'm sure we'll go back next year too!

Jack has 95% mastered riding his bike without training wheels! It's amazing to watch ...also makes me a little sick to my stomach because I'm afraid he'll get hurt!! He just needs to be "launched" by a grown up and then he's good!

Today the kids, Maggie and I went and checked out a different dog kennel. We're going to St. Louis soon and we really need a new option for Maggie. We've tried 2 other kennels here, but we didn't love either. We've also tried keeping her at the house and having the neighbors let her out and play with her ... she poops in the house and eats stuff out of anger. :( So...we are going to try a new place! The price is STAGGERING though. I miss the days of my friend Nikki watching Maggie at her house for next to nothing. It was the PERFECT set up and we knew Maggie was being loved! This one we looked at today looks pretty good though. They can keep 20 dogs at a time, they let them out to play 5 times a day. The "big" dog area is like 100' x90' - so it's great. All is good ... except the price.

Allison continues to be a sassy pants, so we're working on that. She has been a good girl today, with the exception of a few COMMANDS to me. {rolling my eyes} Our neighbor gave the kids some hand-me-down toys, so they've been enjoying their "new"things. :)

Both kids start swimming lessons on Monday at the YMCA. This will be Jack's 2nd round this summer, but Allison's 1st! She likes swimming, so hopefully it will go well! We continue with ballet also on Monday & Wednesday.

Guess that's it! We're having a low key day today ... it's nice. :)

I'm tired

Well, I'm just plain tired! I have my good days and bad days with this epstein barr virus...this one turned into a not-so-great one....

We did get to enjoy lots of family time today and that's always great. :)

Now, I'm off to bed.

I survived Walmart AND Chuck E Cheese today!

Today has seemed like a long day! It's been good though (with the exception of the trip to Party City). We went to the "donut store" for breakfast...Jack wanted to ride bikes...but I wasn't feeling it!! Anyway, we went for donuts (a family favorite) and then to the library for some "new" books. We were going to brave a family Walmart trip...but decided against it. We did our standard lunch & then nap for Allison. Oh, we are taking care of Goose, the neighbor dog again...so our day also included several trips to his house. Karl went to work around noon ... but it's a short trip-- yeah!! Some neighbors were also husband-less, so we took the kids (6 of them) to Chuck E. Cheese. It went suprisingly well!!! whew....

So, we did get to Walmart today ...it was the kids & me. Although I'm the only one feeling sentimental about it ... I bought my baby boy's first school supplies today!!!!!!!!!!!!! We picked out #2 pencils, Elmer's glue, new crayons, etc.... you get the idea. Makes me all mushy just thinking about it!! Anyway, it was fun. :)

Now Party City ... well they suck. They send out this big flashy ad claiming 50% off. Well, that my friend was a bunch of BS. It's the normal everyday price there. They said, oh it's off the "MSRP" ... anyway...makes me want to cuss, but I'll refrain!!!!!!!!!! Who in the WORLD would pay $5.00+ for 8 paper plates?? Um, NO ONE. MSRP my ....well you know....... Anyway, we left without buying anything. I'll show them!!!!! ;)

My other mind-numbing activity was figuring out what to spend my Gymboree Gymbucks on tomorrow. I know about 1% of people have any interest in that ... but I love that store. I love feeling like a got a good deal. Karl just rolls his eyes!!

I need to fold laundry and then I think I'll go upstairs and watch some Tivo'd Jon & Kate + 8. I love that show...but Karl hates it...I can only watch it when he's gone. Oh wait...have to go do one more Goose the dog run.....

Ok, obviously not an earth-rattling exciting day ... but it was still a good one. :)

Allison's new bike!

Now that I have figured out how to A) take video on the camera and B) post it on here ... here is another one! My mom gave Allison a new bike for her birthday.

Monday, July 14, 2008

no more training wheels!!

Jack is becoming a big kid!!! :)

It's been a few days since my last post, so here's what's been going on...

Mommy & The Birthday Girl
Allison's new bike from Grandma

We're having a low key day today...and it was MUCH needed! We took mom to the airport today so she could fly home. Karl's at work today and Ying & Dottie headed out yesterday.

My baby girl turned THREE on Friday - crazy! We took her to dinner at Red Robin and she LOVED her huge ice cream sundae that they brought her - she wasn't so sure about them singing to her though. My mom gave her a new big girl Princess bike for her birthday, so she enjoyed riding that. AND Jack learned to ride his bike without training wheels!!

We had her big party on Saturday at one of our favorite pools. It was a success. :) Everyone seemed to have a good time at the Ariel-themed party. Our house is populated with more Princess stuff now!!

On Sunday Karl & I did childcare at church. I was going to do it by myself, but when I was up to over 20 + kindergardeners I knew I'd need his help! I had a not-feeling-so-great day yesterday...so that experience pretty much zapped me!! I did squeeze in a nap ...and then we had another birthday party last night!

Allison has ballet this afternoon...so hopefully she wakes up from her nap in a ballet mood! She wasn't feeling it last week....

I need to make some bows for an order...so that's all the excitement from here!! :)

Beach Babies

Yesterday we drove down to Galveston so the kids could experience the beach. They LOVED it. It's not exactly the beautiful beaches of Florida...but they still loved it. They each were "buried" in the sand and then LOVED burying Daddy. We stayed at the Hotel Galvez, which was cool, but we had a little "issue" with the thermostat. Karl would like to blame that one on me...but I am innocent!!!!!

We went to an old time ice cream parlor after dinner which everyone enjoyed! We took some video of them riding on a horse & boat inside, I'll try to figure out how to upload video!! Hmmm...

We drove back today and then Allison had her 2nd ballet class. Apparently today she wasn't feeling it... Oh well. It's still cute.

My mom flies in tonight for Allison's big THIRD birthday (which is Friday)! How can she be 3?!?!?

I need to post more on my lovely epstein barr virus...but maybe tomorrow. I have to go finish dinner! :)

Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Boy, I'm tired!

And now I know why!! Yesterday I was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Virus! Fun times! I get to experience this fun for 6 to 8 weeks!!

Ok, on a HAPPIER note, we are taking the kids to the beach today!! Yeah! We are driving down to Galveston. The kids are SOOO excited. :)

I should be packing up, so it's a short post today!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! It seems like it was just the beginning of June! Crazy....

We had a nice day today. We met our friend Tiffany and her family again today for a little pool time. If you hadn't gathered, that IS our entertainment here! Anyway, we went to Crainbrook Pool today. They had a fun jungle theme today and did hot dogs, lemonade, etc. We had a good time...until Jack scraped his toe and then it started to rain.
Our awesome neighbors Bob & Ann had the kids and I over for hamburgers tonight. They are so good to us! Their kids are 10 and 12 and they are so sweet to J & A!!

The kids are in bed and I'm going to relax for a little bit and then go to bed myself! No fireworks for our family this year......

Out of the mouths of babes

So here is a random funny story...
So yesterday before Karl left for work we were all upstairs hanging out in our bedroom. Jack calls it "family time". Anyway, we were watching the show "Dirty Jobs" because my husband and children LOVE that show. Usually it's very kid-friendly. I don't even know what the segment was about ...but at the end Mike Rowe says "and now I have crap in my pants". So Jack says "he has crap in his pants?!?!" ...then Allison says "CRAP IN HIS PANTS" (she says everything loudly). By then I am DYING but trying to be the responsible parent and emphasize we don't SAY that word. Karl was just trying to hold back the laughter. So then Jack says -- "what's crap anyway?". So Karl tells him ... it's another not nice word for poop. So Jack says "crap means poop" ...then Allison says "CRAP MEANS POOP!!!!". Eiy yie yie. I was really having a hard time with being that responsible parent...but we just ended the conversation with that fact that kids don't say the word "crap".........

We spent a good part of the day at another pool -- one we hadn't been to this year. We met our friend Tiffany & her kids. The kids had a BLAST together. It was fun -- I got way too much sun and I'm sleepy. :)

We drove down to the airport tonight to have a quick dinner with Karl ... then back home. :( When he saw that the 4th would be spent in Vancouver he thought that would be cool and then I reminded him Vancouver was in CANADA.

Alright...I'm going to let Maggie inside and then head to bed. My pillow is calling my name.....

Happy 4th of July y'all!!!

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

I should be...

...well the list is long. I should be getting clothes out of the dryer that just buzzed, I should be emptying the dishwasher so I can reload with last night's dinner dishes, I should be wrapping Allison's presents, I should be ... well you get the idea.

Instead, I'm just sitting here. Ok, well I AM typing, but that's it. It's been crazy around here. I do not know what has gotten into my kids, but holy cow. Allison is napping now and Karl took Jack with him when he went for a haircut. Alas...quiet ... just the hum of the computer. It's wonderful.

We went to the new "aquatic center" today - still very cool - but Allison just whined the whole time, so that wasn't so fun. Oh well.

Alright, I may post more later ... but right now I'm going to get myself a cold Dr. Pepper and just veg out on the couch. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

One tired Mama...

As I typed that I yawned! It was a busy morning/afternoon for us. We went to a new pool/lazy river that opened today. We stayed for 4 hours (which is a long time for us) and had a BLAST. We went with 2 sets of neighbors.

So, here's a funny story.... we were the first ones to get there (along with our neighbors). Well, turns out the first hour was going to be a VIP only event. WELL, we got there and they were going to try to tell us that. My neighbor Karen, who is a crack up, tells the man "well let's see I pay my taxes and my community association fee, so I'm pretty sure we're going in now". And with that we all walked in!! :) The back story is that is a community pool and we pay some heft community association fees around here.......

We were the first ones on the new lazy river part of the pool. It was great. Well, as we are rounding a turn I see someone snapping pictures of us. As we get up to him he tells me he's from the Houston Cronicle (newspaper) and wants to use our picture in the paper. That's fun and all, but I had my hair in a french braid, didn't have an ounce of makeup on and was in my swimming suit. NOW THAT'S HOW I WANT TO BE PICTURED!! Yikes. Hopefully if he puts that picture in, I'll be covered up by Allison. :)

The kids are in bed ...I am going to watch a little more TV and then do the same. I'm pooped. Oh, first I have to go put in a neighbor dog. Suddenly I'm the go-to for dog care....{rolling my eyes}

That's all the excitment from here......

TGIF

Ok, really it doesn't matter what day of the week it is when you're a stay at home mom and your husband is a pilot with a goofy schedule!!

Karl will be home in a couple of hours....yippeeee! I give props to the single moms out there.

We had a fun morning at the YMCA pool with my friend Stacie & her kids. She is also a pilot wife and lives the same crazy life! We have become great friends over the past year and our kids really get along well too! Such a blessing to make a good friend when you're so far from home!!!

Karl would make fun of me...but the kids and I had my FAVORITE thing for dinner. We went to Quiznos. Now, I know I could have spent $14 on something much wiser, but I do love me a classic club with bacon. ;)

I took both kids for haircuts tonight. It could have gone really wrong with Allison ...but she cooperated and tolerated them messing with her hair. She just got about an inch or so cut off. She is almost 3 and this is only her second haircut! She still has cradle cap ... I'm embarrased to admit! It's a circle on top of her head that I have never been able to get rid of. I'm certain the hair people thought I was completely unfit for it being there still. So, my stress of the night is how to fix that situation. I have to becareful to not damage the hair folicle and/or irritate her head. They tried to sell me some $17.00 crap ... but I declined. I am going to try some good old fashioned baby oil first. If anyone reading this has any ideas on what to do ... please comment!!! My Jack looks like a little man with his haircut. His hair is blonder this summer with all the sun.

I'm looking forward to trying out a new LAZY RIVER that they built in my community. We are heading there tomorrow morning. We moved to a flippin' oasis. It's unreal really. There is MUCH to be said about living near you family -- but if you can't -- this is a good second choice!!

Today my mom found out that she might be retiring in November. CRAZY. It's ahead of schedule, but her company is going through transition. It's a good thing for her though.

Alright, time to snuggle with my babies before bedtime. I often explain to them that they are my babies now and forever. I get the "no I'm 5" and "no I almost 3" ... but then I explain that even when THEY are 33 - they will STILL be my babies. :)

TGIF.....

Thursday ramblings

I've been busy this week, but now I'm trying to remember what I've been busy doing?? Hmmm. Well, it involved kids and water I'm sure.

Last night I got some super sad news -- my friend Tina's mom passed away. She had had surgery to remove cancer ...and ended up dying from complications from the surgery. Just crazy. I'm still in shock.......I went to write on here about it last night, but couldn't. I have WAY too many friends that have lost a parent already. We just are toooooooooo young for this!!

On a happier note,

Yesterday I had a fun morning with my kids. Our church had a "splash day". The kids had a blast - there weren't too many people there so no one was overwhelmed. They made snocones and had gold fish crackers and Capri Sun. (I think Jack would live on that if I allowed it.... ) We met some friends from preschool there and just enjoyed ourselves!

Today the kids finished up summer camp at their preschool. It was also splash day there....lots of splash days this week. After I picked them up I thought, now what do we do for 2 months!?! Well I guess the answer is MORE pool time. My kids should have CRAZY tans by the end of the summer!! Karl and I enjoyed our last "date lunch" for a while. We lived it up and had Honey Bee Ham sandwiches. We're so crazy. I also delivered some bows to a customer and picked up Allison's new birthday bike!!

Because I love details and planning, I was excited to pack Allison's birthday party goody bags ... ya her party isn't until July 12th. I like to be prepared. ;) I'm all set besides wrapping her presents and ordering the pizza. I like that feeling of accomplishment!!

A sweet lady named Marie Callender is providing our dinner tonight. ;) The microwave ding, oh I mean Marie, is calling me to the kitchen.

If you would, please say a prayer for Tina's mom ... her name is Annie...and the family so that they may find peace. Thanks

Until next time.......

ahhh...Sunday night

It has indeed been a sun & water filled weekend. I have the headache to prove it. We spent yesterday morning at the pool with Oma Linda and enjoyed a picnic lunch poolside. We came home to the unhappy surprise of our hot water heater not working AGAIN. Let me tell you, that was one cold shower........ Our awesome neighbor came and took a look at it and got it working again, but that was AFTER the cold shower.

Today we enjoyed church ... it was a good sermon pulled from the Book of Judges. The music is always my favorite part. :) Karl didn't make it with us though ... the water heater pilot light went out AGAIN. So, he fixed it....hopefully.

We went to the pool again today and there were 3 times as many people there as yesterday! Karl and I made the executive decision to try another pool next weekend. Jack is all about swimming underwater and Allison just wants to JUMP IN. We brought some watermelon with us and enjoyed it during the pool-wide safety break. Allison ate her weight in it ... and then spent the rest of the time telling me she had to go potty. :) One gem, after one trip to the bathroom we got all "set" to go and then she informed me that she already went potty. Uh-oh...I asked when and where did she go potty ... guess what the answer was........... THE POOL.

Oma Linda heads out tomorrow and Karl goes back to work on Wednesday. I'm hoping for a little down time soon and maybe some retail therapy.

We'll take a break from the pool tomorrow...we don't want our blonde hair turning green! It's a little weird buying the shampoo for my kids that gets the chlorine out - I totally remember that from when I was little. :)

We really are enjoying summer so far!
